Those last two lines are foolery, however inspiring of hope or thoughts of reoccurring chivalry they may posess.

When it really boils down to it, saying, "Its better to love and lose then never to have loved at all" is equal to stating, "Its better to be in debt one dollar then to never have had any money in the first place."

Love is so much more than money could ever be. Love is not a thing, but so much more, you cannot define love. What is money compared to love, but something trivial.
